Our Clays Tennessee Clay

44-B
The 44-B clay is similar to 54-S and is a recommended selection where additional plasticity and strength are important. It is particularly recommended in extruded and plastic processed ceramic formulas such as electrical porcelain and tableware. The 44-B can also be used in monoporosa and monocuttura tile bodies for additional press density and strength especially for a large dimension shapes.

54-S
This ball clay is a multi- purpose clay that has excellent pressing, extrusion, and casting qualities. It has a moderately fine particle size distribution and the high plasticity and dry strength is due in part to unique mineralogy of the clay. The low total carbon content provides excellent oxidation characteristics to a variety of ceramic process formulas.

56-SR
This is a kaolinitic clay with excellent extrusion and die pressing characteristics. It has some colloidal carbon content but only a moderate amount of tatl shrinkage. This clay is suitable for a variety of refractory compositions or other ceramic formulations such as stoneware.

APG-300
This is an extremely low 325 Mesh wet residue clay. It can be employed in a variety of applications where high purity mineral filler is required. It has a moderate GE brightness value and is particularly beneficial where suspension of other materials is important or where low settling tendency is critical.

M-33
The M-33 ball clay is a carbonaceous selection that bears similarity to some clays found in the Southwestern section of England. It has a uniquely waxy type of plasticity and provides high green and dry strength to a variety of white ware ceramic formulations. especially sanitary ware. The organic content is largely of colloidal size, which offers the added advantage of rheology stability and ease of casting slip deflocculation. Due to this rich source of collidal organic content, our M-33 should be considered as an additive type clay in percentages of 50% or less of the total ball clay content of white ware formula.

M-44
A highly plastic clay blend containing kaolin and other mixed layer minerals. It is white firing with excellent vitrification properties for use in whiteware ceramic casting, pressing, or plastic forming compositions.

No. 1 Glaze
No. 1 Glaze Clay is a very high kaolin bearing selection with extremely low levels of carbon content. it provides excellent suspension to all types of glazes especially glazes containing a high percentage of frit which has soluble alkali. No. Glaze provides viscosity control range and excellent rheology for all glaze application methods and especially bell or cone applications processes.

No. 5
No. 5 clay is a kaolinitic ball clay containing low levels of carbon. It provides high suspension and plasticity to a variety of ceramic formulations and is an excellent source of Al2O3 content. No.5 clay is especially beneficial in refractory specialty products, high and super duty refractory brick (50 to 70% Al2O3).

No. 6 DC
No. 6DC is a highly kaolin clay that can be used as a filler grade material where presence of some 200 M quartz residue is not harmful. Applications can include a variety of refractory compositions as well as non-ceramic building products such as cement and fiberglass reinforced construction board.

No. 28
This is a kaolin grade with exceptional plasticity, dry and green strength, and low levels of carbon content. it can be utilized in extruded or pressed ceramic formulations and is a clay particularly advantageous in the manufacture of porcelain ceramic tile.

UltraCast slurries  PC-2000 l  PC-2034 l  UC-34A
These popular slurry grades are shipped at 60% solids content and deflocculated with sodium silicate to maintain stable rheology characteristics. All the above grades are suitable for a variety of ceramic casting formulations ranging from standards bench cast to pressure cast and capillary type production systems. High permeability with good strength and plasticity are key properties of these slurry grade clays.
