High and low tension electrical porcelain processed by press or extrusion manufacturing methods require highly plastic and strong ball clays. These ball clays must meet the processing demands of hot press and dry or wet lathe turning of high tension ceramic insulators. In addition, the unique mineralogy present in key selections may help formulation of mullite in the fired composition which can maximize fired strength values.
